IMPORTANT: Check to ensure you have the all pieces listed on the kit inventory.
If anything is missing contact us immediately for a replacement.
Step 10: Repeat the above process with the
lower lid section and assembly of your
"Sanctuary" coffin kit is complete.
Step 9: Place the upper lid section onto the
coffin low enough for the "locking lip" to
clear the sides. Slide the lid section into
place. For viewings, this section of the lid
may be left off.
Step 8: Locate the corresponding markings on the handrails and on the coffin body
indicating left and right. Apply a small amount of glue to each handrail bracket and screw
securely to the coffin body. Again, the protruding screw trick will come in handy here.
Step 7: Turn your coffin on its side and tap a wooden
plug into each of the screw holes until flush. Sand
lightly, if necessary, with fine grit sandpaper. Turn the
coffin onto the other side and repeat the process with
the remaining screw holes. Finally, turn the coffin so it
is sitting in its upright position.
Step 6: After inserting the last bottom piece,
apply a small bead of glue to both edges of
the head panel. Fit the panel in place and
secure with the screws. Wipe away any
excess glue with the damp cloth.
Step 5: Working from shortest to longest,
insert the tongue and groove bottom pieces
into the grooves in the assembled panels.
You may wish to examine each piece to
assure that the nicest side faces the interior
of the coffin. Tap each piece lightly to snug
it against the preceding piece.
Step 4: Apply a small amount of glue to
either end of the middle support piece;
lining up the arrows on this piece with
the arrows on the bottom edges of the
side panels. Screw the support in place.
The protruding screw trick mentioned
above is particularly handy at this point.
Step 3: Apply another bead of glue to the
opposite edge of the foot panel and attach the
second side panel. Do not force the side
panels into parallel; they should get slightly
farther apart toward the open end of the
coffin.
Helpful Hint: You will find it easier to assemble
the parts of your kit if you partially insert the
screws beforehand and let the tip of the screw
protrude approximately ¼”. The screw tips can
then be used to assist in lining up the parts, one
to the other.
Step 2: Line up the bottom grove of the foot panel with the bottom groove of the side
panel Apply a small bead of glue (approximately 1/8" wide) to the edge of the foot panel
where they will meet and screw the two panels together. Wipe away any excess glue
with a lightly dampened cloth.
