Specialty Woods
To avoid contributing to the destruction of the Earth's exotic forests, THE OLD PINE BOX will not use imported
hardwoods.  Our products may be crafted from a variety of domestic woods:  sugar pine, alder, ash, birch, cherry,
hickory, maple, oak, poplar, cedar, redwood, or walnut.

Stains and Finishes: At THE OLD PINE BOX we encourage the purchase of our coffins in their unfinished
state.  This not only provides for the most natural return to the earth but also allows the coffin to be personally
decorated by individual family members.  This creative act can be extremely therapeutic, particularly for children.
However, if you prefer to have your coffin dressed up with more conventional coloring, we provide hand rubbed oil
finishes in a variety of shades from natural to ebony. This finish will result in a matte to satin sheen depending on the
species of wood.
The
"Peace" coffin shown below has a dark walnut finish on pine.
Please add $150.00 to the price of your coffin for this option.
